Empire Earth II - Frequently asked questions:

Please find below a list of frequently asked questions we have collected for 'Empire Earth II: Art of Supermacy':

Q: I get the error message: 'Emulation detected error (e.g. 2500)'.
A: Please unmount all images, deactivate running emulation software and put the original disc in your drive.
If the error message persists, please follow the steps below. If you do not want to play online you can just run "STEP2".

Important: If you want to play the game online after you will need to follow a few extra steps.

STEP1: BEFORE applying the update using the SecuROM™ Diagnostics Tool, you will need to get the CRC for both the retail exe and the new encrypted exe:

1. Locate a file in the install directory (the same directory as the executable) called log_EE2X.cfg
2. Open "log.cfg" and add this line of text: InstallationCRC SET ee2.log
3. Run the game executable
4. When you run the executable, a log file will be created in My Documents\Empire Earth II Art of Supremacy\logs
5. There should be a line in this log file of the form "Center: -1598950227"
6. The number there is the CRC for the executable
7. Record this CRC number, as you will need this later in this process

STEP2: Run the SecuROM™ Diagnostics Tool and follow the instructions on the website.

STEP3: AFTER applying the update:

1. Locate a file in the install directory (the same directory as the executable) called log_EE2X.cfg
2. Open "log.cfg" and add this line of text: InstallationCRC SET ee2.log
3. Run the game executable
4. When you run the executable, a log file will be created in My Documents\Empire Earth II Art of Supremacy\logs
5. There should be a line in this log file of the form "Center: -1598950227"
6. The number there is the CRC for the updated executable
7. Record this CRC number, as you will need this later in this process

STEP 4: Edit the "myconfig_EE2X.cfg" file with CRC values collected in "STEP1" and "STEP3":

1. Locate and open a file called "myconfig_EE2X.cfg" for the new distribution.
2. Add the following lines:

• g_gameDist = string to identify version
• g_DistributionCenter = CRC of executable (this is the 2nd CRC that you recorded in "STEP3")
• g_DistributionBranch = CRC of retail executable (this is the 1st CRC that you recorded in "STEP1")

Important: g_gameDist should be a string surrounded with quotes (such as "Example") to identify which distribution of the game it is. The actual value of this is not important, as long as each distribution uses a different string (don't use "Retail" as that is used by the retail version of the game).
