Retail version (disc based): official website

*If you purchased a digital distribution copy of 'BioShock' (i.e. from Direct2Drive, Steam, or other), do NOT install this patch. Please go to the site you downloaded 'BioShock' from to receive a version of this patch modified to work with your version.

Steam version: Please note, that the Steam version of 'BioShock' does not use SecuROM™ anymore. Also the Steam client automatically updates the game to the latest version when you start it.

Q: I get the error message: 'Could not connect to the activation server.'
A: If you are having problems activating your game you can also visit the manual unlock website https://support.securom.com/PAunlock/ to generate an unlock code yourself and activate your game manually.


Q: I get the error message: 'Too many activations on different PCs or too many reactivations on the same PC have been performed...'
A: Please download the revoke tool from the following website and execute it on the PC where you have activated 'BioShock' before:
http://download.securom.com/support/bioshock/BioShockRevokeTool.zip


Q: I get the error message: 'The serial number was not found in the database.'
A: The number one problem with serial numbers is mistyping. Double check the characters you have entered. To help identify each character of the serial number correctly, please see common misinterpretations:

Q: I still have issues activating my application.
