SecuROM Product Activation connects to the Internet after you have entered the required serial number for validation (usually upon first launch of the application). No updates for SecuROM are downloaded during the activation process.

During the activation process, the serial number, unlock request code and network information are sent to the product activation server. The serial number is often provided by the publisher. The unlock request code is a unique number generated from the application ID and a hash of hardware components. This information is strictly for transaction reporting and the ID cannot be reverse engineered for any identification purposes.
